Pukka Every Time for Dean Windass

Dean Windass might have some difficulties naming the goal scorers on Soccer Saturday but he has absolutley no doubt about his favourite pie.

Windass played for nine different clubs during his playing career which spanned nearly 20 years – from Hull to Aberdeen, Oxford to Darlington.
When asked about his favourite pie, in a recent interview for the Aberdeen match day magazine , it was the Pukka Pies of Bradford City that stuck out in his mind – Pukka Pies’ Chicken Balti to be precise.

In answer to a fan’s question on which of his former club sold the best pies, he said; “It would have to be Bradford.

"Gorgeous Pukka Pies, chicken balti Pukka Pies. Amazing pies – and I’ve had a few in my time!”

No doubt Dean will be enjoying a few Pukka Pies around the grounds as a media pundit these days – let’s just hope he doesn’t leave the commentary box before half time!!

Macesport have signed a three-year agreement to be the lead partner of the Association.

"Notts County is in the blood of the Mace family dating back to the foundation of the Football League in 1888," said Mace.

"Hopefully, our support can help underpin and help develop what is unquestionably one of the best-run ex players associations of any football club in the UK.

"The club has given my family and I over 120 years of pleasure - and pain ! - and this is my way of saying thank you to those players.

"I also think it very important that, given we are a sports communications consultancy, we should be seen to be supporting the game across all levels."

Wearing Poppies with Pride

Macesport managing director Paul Mace has welcomed football’s decision to wear their poppies with pride on shirts up and down the country to commemorate Remembrance Day.

Mace was personally responsible for ensuring Leicester City – then COO at the Walkers Stadium club - were the first club seven years ago to wear a poppy on their shirts – in a Premier League fixture with Blackburn Rovers.

“Its great to see that for each of the past seven years increasing numbers of clubs have worn special poppy shirts,” said Mace.

“It is a highly simple but extremely visually impactful way in which the football family can show their support for our armed forces.

“I recall that at Leicester seven years ago we wore the poppy shirts for two games and after winning at Manchester City manager Micky Adams came up to me and asked if we could wear them for the rest of the season because they were our lucky charm !!.

“We were inundated with letters from servicemen throughout the world and I am personally delighted to see that this has now become an established fixture on the football calendar.”
